LISTEN: Amanda Palmer covers Radiohead's "Idioteque" y mas!

Amanda Palmer did an all covers EP. No Suprises, i know. Apparently, it's been out since July, but a friend of mine just brought it to my attention yesterday. What really got my attention was that it is an ALL RADIOHEAD covers!!! The 7-track EP titled 'Amanda Palmer Performs the Popular Hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele' was self-released July 17 via her website. Even better, is that all songs are beautifully reinvented on ukulele, an instrument that my friend and I have joked back and forth about because of it's resurgence in the indie world, and therefore, it's demise (for more "indie faux pas" also see: glockenspiel, looping pedals). Being the Radiohead fanatic that i am, the thought of an all Radiohead covers album makes me cringe just as quick as it raises my curiosity to hear what this potential disaster might sound like. This is no disaster. One track that really stands out is her take on "Idioteque", a song that originally is an electronic, beep and blips filled clusterfuck (i mean that in the best of ways!). So, naturally it wouldnt seem possible to be properly re-done, let alone on a ukulele! Non-believers beware. Another highlight is the epically climaxing cover of  "Exit Music (for a film)". Anyone who is familiar with the original knows how impactful this song is once that fuzzed out bassline rips as the 2nd verse begins and Thom Yorke mocks "You can laugh your spineless laugh..." only to reassure his love interest that they are "one in everlasting peace". The cover of this song does not let down, nor does the rest of the EP and I highly recommend purchasing it at her website where you can pay as little as $.89 (which covers royalty/pay pal fees).
